Strawberry Carp Bait

"My grandfather loved fishing and used to make a fish bait called Doughballs that was similar to this recipe, but not strawberry. I found this recipe online and it brought back lots of wonderful fishing memories!"

• Ingredients: 6
• Yields: 2 cups

ingredients

• 236.59 ml flour
• 236.59 ml cornmeal
• 473.18 ml water
• 14.79 ml vanilla
• 29.58 ml sugar
• 85.04 g envelope strawberry gelatin

directions

1. Make a dry mixture of flour and corn meal.
2. Bring water to a simmer and then add vanilla, sugar and strawberry gelatin, while stirring.
3. Keep stirring and sprinkle on enough dry mixture to cover the surface of the liquid.
4. Once the hot water breaks through the dry ingredients, cover the break with the dry mixture.
5. Continue in this manner until dry mix is gone and then continue stirring for two minutes.
6. Cool and remove from the pan; roll into a ball, wrap tightly and then store in the refrigerator.
7. TO USE: Roll up a ball the size of a large english pea onto a #6, #4 or #2 fishing hook; when fishing line moves, wait until line tightens before setting the hook.

My dad use to make this bait all the time!! As he got older I asked him one day how he made it!! He said dang if I can't remember!! Lol He would be so pleased to know that I will be making his bait to do fishing!! Wish he were here with me to go along!!

I caught my 2 carp the next day after making this bait and I had never even caught a carp before and caught 2 in one day only rating 4 stars because how sticky and messy this stuff is

I followed the direction and couldn't get any firmness to hold onto hook. I used something similar to this years ago that worked so much better.
