A perfect smoothie that combines fresh fruit to form great taste. This is perfect for a snack or a quick breakfast. This recipe combines some that I found on this website with my own ideas for what a smoothie should include.
- 1 cup fresh strawberries
- 1 medium banana
- 1 cup ice
- 1⁄2 cup nonfat plain yogurt
- 1⁄4 cup sugar (or Sugar Substitute)
- 1 cup low-fat milk
- Combine all ingredients in blender and set to smoothie or medium high setting until blended (add extra ice to desired consistency).
I made this with plain Greek yogurt, 6 packets of Splenda instead of sugar, and added 1/8 tsp. of almond extract. This is the best strawberry/banana smoothie recipe I have found so far. Add more ice if you want it thicker.
Great basic smoothie. I made two changes. Used only half of the Splenda called for and used frozen whole strawberries so left out the ice. Turned out very thick without the ice watering it down. Made for the 2012 Think Pink event.
