Wonderful!
Fresh pepper is my go-to aphrodisiac, I love the zing it brings. This recipe is delicious, easy and pretty, smells great, too. I didn't change a thing this time, in the future I might try making this with a white balsamic, perhaps the color won't be as muted. I can't wait for my alpine strawberries to ripen for this one. Thank you for sharing this, chia.

Very good however I would cut the pepper back a little bit. The fresh pepper was a little too much.

What a pleasant surprise. Have been looking at this recipe for a while, kept wanting to try it, but kept forgetting when I had the strawberries. I was so curious why anyone would put a vinegar on a perfectly good strawberry and ruin it LOL So I knew there had to be a reason. Wow, I myself really liked this. I had a really good brand of Balsamic Vinegar and was eager to try it with this. First I just used the vinegar alone to test it out. Wow it is like the vinegar brings out the sweetness of the strawberries. Then I did add the sugar and the pepper, I still liked it, thought maybe I added a little too much pepper, seemed hot, but ya know what, I still liked it! I am going to try this out on company this holiday weekend, boy will they be surprised by the ingredients!! Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to broaden my views. Love that!

I made this as a salad to go with our dinner. I did leave out the suger because our strawberries were so sweet. I also only used 1/2 pint of berries since it was just DH and me. Thanks for such a great recipe that will be made often. Made for: Tag it Red, February 2009.

I love this as it is so simple to make and so delicious. I have also mixed in blueberries for a little variety and it's equally as good.

Last week I was wowed by this combination at a local happy hour... in the form of a martini! Just added some vodka and crushed up strawberries with a full strawberry for a garnish. I have been raving about it ever since, so I was happy to see this recipe here. Just beware if you make the drink - you can hardly taste the liquor, so it can really sneak up on you!

My husband and I had this at a B&B in Canada, the chef there used powdered sugar and it was so tasty, glad to see the recipe already here!

I too have been doing my strawberries this way for years and I too let them marinate a bit--they're wonderful. Sometimes I don't mention that there's pepper in there until after someone has said he likes it. One hint--if you don't have one of the more expensive balsamics, you can reduce the balsamic you do have till it begins to get syrupy--it will taste wonderful.

I know for a fact (since I have been preparing mine like this for years) that this is a good recipe. Let's just hope the rest of the world doesn't think "eew" about balsamic vinegar and strawberries. It really does bring out the sweetness, but I usually let them marinate for an hour or so if the strawberries are underripe. Thanks for posting this!
