The recipe in the La Madeleine cookbook calls for Cognac instead of Brandy. Once you make that small change it will taste exactly like what you get at La Madeleine.

OH MY GOODNESS. This is AMAZING. I just ate two bowls. I never write reviews, but after making this was thoroughly compelled. I have been dying for these and la madeleine is just two expensive for that tiny glass and they never give you enough sauce. I made it with vanilla and it still tasted amazing. I used organic cream that was practically whipped by the time I took it out the carton (it was the good stuff), it made the fluffiest whip cream I have ever had. Horizon doesn't even come close. I added a touch of cinnamon and a pinch of salt to add a depth to the flavor. I even used my little mini bullet processor to whip the cream (just add the sugar in from the beginning). This recipe is amazing. I will now live a happier life. :)

This should be illegal - it is addictive. So simple and so delicious. Used the vanilla. Will certainly make again.

I tried this today and was so pleased with the results. The flavor was wonderful, I didn't have any brandy so I used congac. So simply and a great addition to summer berries.

This is such an elegant dessert - we make it with vanilla and to me it's even better than La Madeleine's. To add a bit of crunch, I serve it with Pepperidge Farm Bordeaux cookies.

I've never eaten at La Madeleine and had never heard of Strawberries Romanoff. I had to try your recipe as I'm always looking for new ideas for strawberries. I'm so glad I did because it's absolutely delicious! Made for Spring 2010 Pick A Chef.

Just lovely! Simple and delicious. I used Contreau. I made one batch as written and some that was diet friendly (fat-free yogurt, brown sugar splenda and fat free cool whip - still added Contreau!). Thanks for posting!

Made this for Mother's Day for 15 people and there wasn't a drop leftover. Everyone was asking for the recipe - even my 6-year-old niece insisted that I give it to her mom! Thank you thank you thank you!!

Excellent. I lived in Dallas for almost 20 years--for as long as I can remember, I ordered La Madeleine's Strawberries Romanoff. What an incredible clone. Really can't tell the difference. My dinner guests raved and raved--men and women alike. La Madeleine serves it in a large round-bowled red wine glass. Fill the glass 3/4 full with large cut strawberries and top with a huge dollup of the Romanoff sauce. Also looks beautiful in a sturdy Martini glass if you don't have the other. Thanks so much for submitting the recipe.
