This recipe turned out so terrible! I think the problem was all the extra water added to the soap. I'm not going to try and make it again, but if anyone one does, I do not recommend adding so much water. Maybe add just enough to make the powdered milk into a paste...I don't know. My soaps turned out very spongy. It's been a week now, and they still haven't hardened. I also used my muffin tin as a mold only to discover that it removed much of the teflon coating from the pan, rendering it useless now...both the pan and the soap which has teflon flakes all over it. I finally threw the soap out. However, they did unmold fairly easily after a couple of days in the tin, and the shape was cute.

I made this in the day today and it has turned out fine. I will wait until 24 hours have passed before spooning it out. It smells wonderful and is right now sitting in 2 greased muffin tins:) I substituted the strawberry fragrance oil with sea breeze fragrance oil{since this is my favourite of late and plus, I dont have any strawberry fragrance oil on hand}. I made this using the top of the double boiler method. I would like to just point out one thing - the soap-milk-water mixture was taking VERY VERY VERY long to melt when I did it this way{i.e., in a pan, over a pot of water. Please note that had I used just simmering water, it would've taken MUCH MUCH LONGER! I used hot boiling water to speed up the melting process, but it still was getting on my nerves as it was taking too long}. So, what I did was to allow the water to get really boiling and then for about 5-7 minutes, I stirred the soap mixture that was in a smaller pot, over this pot of boiling water. Thereafter, when I got tired and it was just not melting as soon as it should've, I dipped the smaller pot into the larger pot:) That REALLY SPEEDED up the melting process! Remember to keep stirring the mixture even when it is dipped into the larger pot:) In the larger pot, I used 3 cups of water and not 2. This was GOOD and I am gifting it to my DAD for Father's Day;)! Thanks for posting! UPDATE: I gifted this to the Resident Manager of my apartment complex and she was so happy with these soaps....she was praising them and me to her new BF;) Thank you for posting!
