    Strammer Max means stiff or tight Max which is Saxon slang and means exactly what you think it means. Traditionally it's a butter fried slice of bread with ham and a fried egg. My MIL uses to make this version every time she wants to make a quick dinner.

      Toast and butter bread and spread with bacon and sliced tomato while heating a lightly oiled skillet.

      Fry the egg to desired doneness, season with pepper and top with grated swiss cheese.

      As soon as cheese has melted, transfer the fried egg on top of the sandwich, serve immediately.

      If you have bacon and eggs in the same recipe, of course you have to fry the eggs in the bacon grease. That is what I did, which added just a little more flavor to an already delicious sandwich. I fried one slice thick cut bacon. Made for - More Than Sauerkraut And Dumplings 2012

      My mom use to make this for me as a child, so had to make it again. I can not have cheese so I skipped the cheese step.

      Wonderful dish - simple to make and quick to eat. Didn't have any bacon or ham but did have a few bratwursts in the freezer so I quickly cooked them up and sliced them into thin slices. Wunderbar!!! Eggs, meat, and bread - the perfect meal!!!
