Stir Fry Nuts

"These are fantastic! A little salty, a little sweet. Everyone just gobbles them up. Be prepared to make more! I've made them with walnuts and pecans. The pecans are my favorite! These are great to give as gifts during the holidays."

  • In a large sauce pot bring water to a boil. Boil nuts for 1 minute and drain.
  • Place the nuts in a mixing bowl with 1/2 cup sugar and stir.
  • Fry nuts in oil, on medium heat, for approximately 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Watch them carefully so they do not burn!
  • Remove nuts from pan with slotted spoon and place in a single layer on waxed paper to cool.
  • While the nuts are still warm lightly salt them. Allow to cool completely before serving.

  1. A wonderful sweet & salty treat! I used walnuts as I didn't have pecans and fried them for 5 minutes. I plan to make these at Christmas time and put them in decorative jars for gift giving. Made for Fall 2009 Pick A Chef.

I have always loved to cook. I really love to try new recipes! RecipeZaar is perfect for looking for new recipes. It's the first place I go when looking for something new! My husband and I moved to Northeast Arizona (up in the mountains) in April (2007). We live near Show Low. The summer was absolutely beautiful! It never got to 100 degrees! Coming from Phoenix, we both enjoy being away from the heat and the city. Our first snow this year was absolutely gorgeous! My recipe ratings pretty much follow the star system. I will usually make a recipe as is the first time. I say usually but I do still change things sometimes. I try to be fair if I have made changes. I will rate 5 stars if we LOVE it and it will be a regular dish around our house. 4 stars if we really liked it and 3 stars if it was just OK but we wouldn't make it again. I realize everyone's tastes are different so I do try to be gentle. Cooking can be a very personal thing to someone. Another creative outlet for me is beading. I love to make beaded jewelry.
