This recipe was kind of bland by itself, but when added on top of homemade cheesy mashed potatoes, it was wonderful! I used the chili powder and only half of the sesame sauce that it called for and enjoyed it as a topping.

I was looking for more dishes to use up cukes and tagged this in 123. I made as directed, using chili powder. 4 oz. water seemed like a lot and took a while to cook down. I didn't really care for these flavors. Sorry.

Wow! I had also never fried (or even cooked) cucumbers before. It is a hit with the whole family. The sesame oil really added a nice taste to the dish.

i never would have thought of cooking cucumbers, but we really enjoyed this different way of serving them. this cooked up quickly, loved the asian flair. i just cut them in halves, very easy and tasty.

Nice different side dish, quite a conversation piece. Some liked it, some didn't. But on the whole most did and it was a change from the usual cucumber relish type of dish. I used the chili powder, didn't want to buy a whole bottle of chili bean sauce to use 1/4 teaspoon, but can use up the black beans in another recipe. Liked the taste of the sesame oil, it added a nice nutty taste. This added a good change to our Easter dinner, thanks for sharing.
