Very simple. Very tasty. Amounts can be changed to suit your taste. This is my favorite way.
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 large onion (diced)
- 4 slices toast (cubed)
- 1 quart canned tomato
- 1⁄4 cup sugar
- Saute onions in butter until translucent.
- Add cubed toast, cook another 2 minutes.
- Add tomatoes and sugar.
- Simmer 30 minutes.
Excellent recipe ! Simple yet delicious......when I found I was out of bread I substituted croutons, with excellent results ! Reminds me of the stewed tomatoes my grandmother made when I was a girl.
Very good. I used my yellow tomatoes from the garden and since they don't have a much acid as red I omitted the sugar. Added some salt and pepper and this was a hit. Made for the *Fall PAC 2007 game*
