This comes from Falling off the Top Shelf book of drinks. The 'anise' essence can usually be found at a Continental Deli or maybe home brew places. Prep time takes in 30 minutes cooling.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 (375 ml) bottle anise extract


  1. Combine sugar and water in a large heavy based saucepan.
  2. Stir over medium heat without boiling until sugar has completely dissolved.
  3. Cool solution.
  4. Add 'annise' essence.
  5. Stir and bottle.
