This comes from Falling off the Top Shelf book of drinks. The 'anise' essence can usually be found at a Continental Deli or maybe home brew places. Prep time takes in 30 minutes cooling.
- Combine sugar and water in a large heavy based saucepan.
- Stir over medium heat without boiling until sugar has completely dissolved.
- Cool solution.
- Add 'annise' essence.
- Stir and bottle.
