I've used this recipe a few times now. It's quick, it's easy and the shrimp taste great!
Living on the Texas coast, I'm always looking for a different recipe to cook shrimp. I was hesitant to use this recipe because it calls for boiling the shrimp for a total of 5 minutes. I've never boiled shrimp for that long, but decided to follow the recipe exactly. Well, the shrimp came out very very tough. Actually, it was beyond tough or chewy. Not a good recipe for me.
Perfect recipe! I had already peeled them when I decided to to steam them but it still tasted great! Thanks.
This was wonderful. I made this recipe this morning so I could take a shrimp coctail salad down to the beach for our lunch. The shrimp turned out perfect and with a wonderful flavor. Thank you!
It should be noted that the shrimp should be deveined, either before cooking or after. There are inexpensive deveining knives you can run along the top of the shrimp (without peeling them) before you cook them to save those feasting on them from having to do it. And often, stores sell them raw and already deveined.
Wow this recipe was so easy and quick. And it turned out so good. Even my husband who said he didn't like shrimp loved this! We will make it again and again!
I was tired last night and not really into making a big meal, especially with as hot and humid as it is right now here in Florida! I was just gonna steam some shrimp and chill them, but then I remembered this was in my recipe files. This was the first time I've tried shrimp this way, and let me just say these were sooo good that I wished we had another 1/2# at least to eat!!! I'm going to get more shrimp and eat them again tonight! Thanks so much for this super easy and light recipe.
We love shrimp cocktail, but I've never cooked the shrimp IN anything before. This was great. I made a couple of substitutions that seemed to work fine. I used cider vinegar for the white and lime instead of lemon. I like the flavor that the old bay gave the shrimp as well. Thanks!
thanks for the intro recipe, i've never cooked shrimp myself, this was easy and perfect!
First time I have made steamed shrimp and they were excellent. I used medium shrimp and boiled them for only about 3 minutes. I also omitted the lemon juice. They tasted just like you get in the restaurant and they were much less expensive! I also used frozen shrimp from the grocery store. I just put them in cold water for about 30 seconds to get off the frozen particles, drained them and stuck them in the mixture. I will definitely be making these for parties I have this summer. Oh, my husband, who grew up on steamed shrimp, suggested I drain them a little longer after they boil, but other than that loved them. I may also pat them a little dry with paper towels. Great recipe!
