My mother used to make this recipe for us when we were little. We loved it then. Now as an adult, I find it extremely rich - I can feel the calories settling on my hips as I eat this. This dessert is definitely for a special occasion.

  1. Cream butter with the sugar.
  2. Add the beaten egg.
  3. Add the evaporated milk.
  4. Sift together flour and baking powder.
  5. Add the melted chocolate.
  6. Steam for 2 hours in a double boiler.
  7. DO NOT COVER.
  8. BUTTER SAUCE:.
  9. Cook until thick.
  10. Serve hot over cooked pudding.
