I am always tempted to buy these at Starbucks so when a friend brought these to a cookie exchange I was quite excited!
- Cream butter, sugar and eggs.
- Mix flour, soda and oats and add slowly to creamed mixture.
- Spread 3/4 of this into 9x13 pan.
- Melt remaining ingredients in a saucepan and pour over dough in pan.
- Blob the remaining oat mixture on top.
- Bake at 350° for 25 minutes.
This recipe is amazing! I've made it several times and it has saved me from making trips to Starbucks. To make them even more amazing (yep, didn't think it was possible) I used pure Organic Tahitian Vanilla Extract (generously overflowing the spoon) and my secret to making the fudge: a sprinkle of instant espresso powder in the chocolate mix (1/4 -1/2 teaspoon), just like you would in brownies, coffee enhances the flavour of fudge!
Make sure you press the mixture firmly in the pan (I slightly greased it by rubbing the butter wrapper in the pan), and also when adding the remaining mixture on top of the fudge, I pressed it firmly in to little circles that touch each other on the ends, that way it stays flat and I don't run out. Once it completely cools, cut into small squares (2x2) and freeze them! They taste better the next day when they're completely cooled. ENJOY!
Amazing! I used to purchase them frequently at Starbucks, and now I can make them at home. It's surprising how the taste is exactly the same, even slightly better with the home version! It is true they are better when they are cooled, but even better when they are at room temperature! Thanks for the recipe!
I've never had these at Starbucks, so I can't compare, but these are quite good. A bit overly sweet for my tastes, definitely very rich. I'll definitely make again, but I'll remember to cut them small. Most of these will go in the freezer and be doled out in small portions.
