We've made these several times at horse camp. I just give each camper a gallon size plastic bag and put 1/4 of each ingredient in each bag. Then the campers squish the mixture around until it resembles cookie dough (with carrots...) Then they divide the mixture into treat-size rounds on individual tin foil "trays" and we bake them. I've even had campers make a molasses-free version (with maybe a little extra water to make up for the omission) for the horse with a molasses allergy. The horses LOVE them! Some of the campers seem to enjoy them as well! :)
the girls stalked me for more!
DH and I just inherited 2 horses. We wanted to win them over...your recipe did the trick. It was taking too long to get them to come to us in the pasture. Now, no problem once they see the cookies they come a runn'en. However, the goats, cows and my DH think they are great, lol. I guess I'll be making these once a week because of DH. The only thing I changed was the water, I increased slightly and added a little more molasses. Thanks alot for sharing. Next batch I might add some shredded apple. What do you think? Thanks, Leslie
My ponies are liking you! I made half a batch just to see. GONE. Made a second batch and doubled it. Wondering why? Thanks they make the stall cleanings a little more fun!
Wow! I've never seen a horse drool before! ALL the horses at the barn love these...even the picky ones. Great recipe!
Sassy LOVED these! She bounced her head, rolled her eyes and neighed and neighed. Four hooves Up!!!
My granddaughter made these for her heifer's birthday party. I didn't care for them much, but the guests just loved them. We will make more of these as training treats. I did submit a photo. If I did it correctly, you will see we weren't much on presentation but the cows didn't care.
