Spinach-Cheese Triangles

An easy phyllo recipe!

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In skillet over medium-high heat, heat 1 tablespoon margarine.
  3. Add onion and cook until tender.
  4. Add spinach and cook 4 minutes or until liquid evaporates.
  5. Remove from heat.
  6. Stir in feta cheese, cream cheese, egg and garlic powder.
  7. In cup melt remaining margarine.
  8. Unfold dough.
  9. Remove 2 dough sheets leaving the remaining covered.
  10. Brush with margarine.
  11. Repeat with 4 more dough sheets stacking each on top of the previous sheet.
  12. Repeat with remaining sheet making three stacks in all.
  13. Cut each stack crosswise into 5 (about three inch) strips.
  14. Place about 2 tablespoons spinach mixture at the end of each strip.
  15. Fold each corner of strip over spinach mixture to form a triangle.
  16. Fold triangle over toward strip.
  17. Continue folding until the entire strip is folded into a triangle.
  18. Place on greased baking sheet.
  19. Brush with margarine.
  20. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden.

First time I've seen this recipe w/o lemon juice. I did add some. I thought the cream cheese addition was a nice creamy change and also it was such a nice binder along with the feta I skipped the egg. I topped with some Za'atar Made for ZWT 7.

Loved this filling ! Instead of phyllo dough I used thawed frozen bread dough. I rolled it into a rectangle, spread melted butter over, spread the filling which I prepared as directed. I rolled this up pinching the seam closed. I placed the roll on a baking sheet seam side down and baked at 350 degrees. I don't recall how long I baked this, Sorry. THanks for sharing another great recipe!
