This sauce tastes great and is easy and fast to make. It's great on pasta or with chicken. If you want a creamier sauce, melt cream cheese in with the sauce.
- 1 (12 ounce) jar roasted red peppers (drained)
- 1⁄2 cup tomato puree
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend. Sauce should be slightly chunky.
- Pour into medium saucepan and heat over medium-low heat until heated through.
My husband really enjoyed this. Although I didn't think it tasted a whole lot different than a good tomato based sauced, if he likes it, it's a definite do again. Thanks for sharing this healthy recipe.
