The only changes I made were to leave out the fennel (none of us like fennel) and cut down the hot pepper so that the kids would eat it. I wonder if I did something wrong because the burgers came out very dry. Other than that, I thought the flavor was very like a pizza (in fact, I may make the sauce next time i make pizza). Made for ZWT4.

Loved this recipe as a great way to serve turkey burgers in a easy but flavor packed way. The burgers are reminiscent of Italian sausage, and the spices serve a the perfect foil to the milder sweeter turkey meat. I served mine bunless along with polenta wedges. The sauce was also scrumptious and was used on the polenta as well.

When it comes to turkey burgers, I endorse the idea but I tend to worry about texture and taste. No need in this case--these are moist and delightful. The addition of fennel seeds is an inspiration!
