Spicy Apple Cake

"I got this recipe from one of my sisters, don't know where she got it. The mayonaisse and apple make it a moist cake without any other shortening. It's also good without the raisins. The recipe calls for whipped cream but I used a store bought cream cheese frosting."

• 3 cups flour
• 2 cups sugar
• 2 teaspoons baking soda
• 1 1⁄2 teaspoons cinnamon
• 1⁄2 teaspoon nutmeg
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
• 1⁄4 teaspoon ground cloves
• 1⁄3 cup milk
• 2 eggs
• 1 cup mayonnaise
• 3 cups chopped peeled apples
• 1 cup raisins
• 1⁄2 cup chopped nuts

directions

1. In a large mixing bowl with mixer at low speed, beat first 10 ingredients together. Stir in apples, raisins, and nuts. Pour into an oiled and floured 13x9 inch baking pan and bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes. Serve with whipped cream if desired.
