Spiced Potato and Minced Lamb

  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 500 g minced lamb
  • 1 12 teaspoons oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon coriander, finely chopped
  • 150 g cheese, grated


  1. boil the potatoes.
  2. drain them and cut them into cubes.
  3. fry the lamb until brown.
  4. heat oil in a pan.
  5. put chillies and fry.
  6. add onion and saute.
  7. then add coriander, potatoes and lamb.
  8. cook till they get mixed well in the spices.
  9. remove them into an oven dish.
  10. and cover with the cheese.
  11. bake it till the cheese browns.

We don't eat a lot of chilli, so instead of the fresh chillies, i put a small sprinkle of chilli powder in instead. I also didn't have any coriander, so used a little thyme. Still, the result was delicious!

I prepared it earlier in the day, kept the cheese off until I was putting it in the oven. I tasted the finished dish and felt it needed a bit of zip so I added 1 1/2 tsp curry. I used Provolonne Cheese next time I may use a cheese like feta or riccota something like a natural, unpasturalized cheese, what do you recommend Fouzia?l. I enjoyed my dinner and will make the recipe again. Thanks Fouzia
