Spiced Garden Salad Dressing

"Finally, I have my MIL's salad dressing recipe. It's one of my husband's favorites. It has whole cloves in it, so either remove them before serving, or be sure to let people know so they don't eat them."

  1. This was delish! I din`t get the cloves so I added a dash of ground cloves. Maybe if chilled overnight. I made it before dinner and served i`d say 2 hour after making. This is sweet a good way to get the children to eat their salad! Thanks!! ;)

  2. What a delicious dressing. I kept dipping my finger in it before it had even chilled properly. I served it over chopped romaine, and sprinkled with roasted sunflower seeds. Absolutely perfect. This is going to be a staple in my fridge. Thanks for posting, and thanks also to the girls in the Gardening Forum for recommending it.

  3. Great dressing! This is a wonderfully spiced (although not hot) dressing that is full of robust flavor and couldn't be easier to make. I halved the recipe easily, and knowing that the brown sugar and vinegar had to produce good results, this exceeded my expectations. Didn't change a thing about this. Used this one crisp spinach and added a hard boiled egg, just wonderful! Thanks so much, Recipe Reader!

  4. Loved this!!!!!! Wouldn't change a thing. We've had this twice since I made it the other night. Perfect with some crisp romaine. This reminded me somewhat of the Kraft Catalina dressing but much, much better. The garlic adds a lot of flavor as well as the melding of the other spices. Just terrific! Thanks Recipe Reader. Made for the Herb/Spice of the Month.

  5. I made this a few days ago and have eaten it twice now. Really yummy. I think it is one of my new favorite dressings. It's slightly sweet, but not too much. I love the complex flavors of all the different spices intermingling. Gives this dressing a real depth that reminds me of my grandmother's homemade French dressing. I got 1 1/2 cups from this recipe. Most commercial dressing say a serving size is 2 tbsp (which is 1/8 of a cup). That would make 12 servings for this recipe. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe, and I will definitely be making it again.
