Wonderful spiced flavor.
- 1 (15 ounce) cansliced beets
- 1⁄2 cup vinegar
- 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tablespoon whole cloves
- Put drained beets in jar.
- Heat the beet juice and all the other ingredients in sauce pan.
- Pour over the beets and store in refrigerator.
These were so very easy to make and delicious too! I love the sweet/sour taste combined with the spices. Thank you for a great recipe Margie. I think I may try canning some of these next year.
Excellent side dish. I only used 4 whole cloves as DH is not fond of them, and I added 1 small finely chopped onion. Served the bees with baked pork chops and au gratin potatos.
After Cindy Lynn reviewed my recipe for Cranberry bars recipe #12199 (thanks so much Cindy) I checked into the other recipes she had reviewed. She was right these Spiced Beets are very easy and delicious. They are one of my SIL very favorite side salad choices. I will be making them often. Thanks for the recipe!!
