Very good indeed. Great if you don't want a sweet heavy chocolatety cake. Got even better the next day, nice and moist but not heavy. Will definitely make again.
This was a nice moist spice cake, will omit the nuts next time as my family prefers spice cakes without. I added the spices from Early American Spice Cake, which was also good but on the dry side. This cake is very moist and not heavy. Made it with Allspice Cream Cheese Frosting # 26442 which is very good with this type of cake !
I live in a higher elevation and normally I have to add more flour to everything and adjust the temperature- but the mix seemed pretty thick already so I left the recipe alone. The cake was dense and crumbled all apart and had nothing to bond it together- extremely dry. It's my husbands birthday so I had to attempt it again- I added 3/4 cup of milk and another egg- and it turned out just ok : ( .
