I added a slice of salami to each and served at a potluck. My b-i-l crashed the buffet line to get to these babies. He's always so afraid the food would run out so to get even, behind his back, I took a sip of his drink. No, no...I took a bite of his dessert. No, I didn't do that either. Oh, now I remember...I licked the butter off his bread.
These are certainly something special! I had to sub cheddar for the swiss, as someone who shall remain nameless (ah-hem...DH) apparently used it all up, the sneaky fella. It was still wonderful and the spread definitely makes it! (I also scrambled some eggs and added to one sandwich for a breakfast to go for DH and he loved it!)
The sauce on these sandwiches is a nice alternative to the all butter combination that I have made in the past. It tastes more creamy than oily. I made 1/2 recipe of the sauce and only spread on one side of the buns (18) for my super bowl party. Everyone liked them a lot. Thanks for posting!
If my son likes them, they are great. He is a very picky eater and he loved these. The only thing I changed was the hamburger bun. I used one with sesame seeds.
These were great. Reminds me of the hot ham & cheese at Arby's ONLY BETTER! They were a hit at the superbowl and that was only a week ago and I am making again this weekend already for an easy Saturday night meal. Love the sauce!!! Really good with Dijon Mustard. Thanks for a great complete family fav!
Very good sandwich! It was recommended to me by Breezy and she was correct...it was delicious!! I doubled the cheese and probably used too much sauce but that's OK. We loved the sauce. I put them together last night and served them for lunch with potato chips and pickles and they hit the spot on this snow day. ;) Thanks so much for posting!
These are very tasty. Reminds me of the old poorboy sandwiches that you heated in the oven. These also were a bit soggy on the bottom like the poorboy use to be. The overall flavor is excellent but didn't care for the sogginess of the bun. Thanks for posting. :)
Wow, where has this one been? It's so tasty! Had some leftover ham I wanted to use up and this fit the bill, so quartered it down for just two. The only change I made was using monterey jack cheese because I had no swiss on hand. I love how the bun "toasts up" while baking and the filling stays warm and gooey. I bet this would be really good using roast beef as well, which now I have to try too! :) Thanks for sharing this delicious recipe that is a snap to put together with such satisfying results!
5-star recipe for sure! I've made these twice now and everyone loves them. This time I used onion rolls and sharp cheddar and they were delicious! I wanted to add that each time I have not frozen them but prepared them and placed them directly into the oven for approx. 35-40 minutes and they were great. Thanks for the recipe!
