  1. Heat diced bacon, ground beef and onion in skillet at medium to medium high heat until browned.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and cover.
  3. When mixture begins steaming, switch to low heat and simmer for 35 minutes.

The reason I chose to make this recipe is 'cause my husband thinks he is 1950's man lol, born after his time. I made some changes, 1)Mike used the onions for something else so I had to use a tbsp of the dehydrated stuff. 2) we don't like green peppers so I left them out. You never said if we should drain the tomatoes. I did and it was fine. I used diced, next time I will get the petite diced kind. We also decided next time to try yellow or orange bell pepper in it. All in all we were very happy with this meal. So easy to make (almost makes you think your doing something wrong) and really yummy and very kid friendly. I will be making this often, I am sure. Thanks for posting a great recipe.

These were a nice, quick meal. Inexpensive and filling, with a nice flavor. I would probably fry the bacon alone and crumble it next time, as the texture of it was not really appealing, but we all enjoyed this meal.
