Spamsational Torpedo Subs

This is a recipe off of a can of spam. It is very easy and yummy! I usually leave the olives out just because of personal preference. The recipe says it makes 10, but I usually don't get quite that many. (Maybe I stuff mine fuller than they do!)

Ingredients Nutrition

  1. In a medium bowl combine Spam, cheese, olives and eggs.
  2. In another small bowl combine mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and black pepper. Pour dressing over Spam mixture and stir until well combined.
  3. Place about 1/3 cup of Spam mixture into each hot dog bun. Wrap individually in foil.
  4. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes or until hot and cheese is melted.

My mom's friend used to make a version of these that we loved as kids. She used American cheese instead of olives or mustard...and she added chili powder! She made them ahead and kept them on hand in the freezer. As an adult, I would do the same and grab them for my husband's lunch when there were no left-overs...he loves them!

This didn't wow me but the kids and DH liked them. If I make again I will reduce the amount of olives( I love olives but way to much for this recipe) agree with appleydapply they need some onion, and I would reduce the mayo. They were rather runny everyone had to eat them with a fork. Thanks for sharing your recipe. With a little tweaking these would be good for appeys for football games and other gathering for the boys!

The kids and I had this for lunch today. I followed the recipe exactly, and we thought they were just OK. If I were going to make this again, I'd reduce the mayo by about 1/3 (too gooey), and maybe add some chopped onion or scallion for additional flavor and a little textural interest. Sorry this was not our favorite way to serve spam, but thanks for sharing the recipe!
