Spaghetti Sauce with Bacon

I make this version of spaghetti sauce more often than the regular ground beef/marinara version. It is a nice spicy smoky alternative to the usual sauce. Very easy to make.

EVERYBODY in my family LOVED this recipe! I have the fussiest kids ... they don't like ANYTHING but plain smooth jarred sauce on their spaghetti, but my husband and I love meat and/or chopped veggies in the sauce. Finally, we all agree! I used a large white onion and really find that the little bit of cayenne pepper really added just a little zing, but not too much for those who don't like it spicy. This covered a lb. of spaghetti nicely, and I could make use of the cheapest plain tinned sauce at the grocery store. Thanks so much!

  1. In a skillet, cook bacon on low heat until done.
  2. Remove bacon from skillet to a paper-towel covered plate to drain.
  3. Cook onion in skillet with bacon grease until onion is soft.
  4. Drain onion.
  5. Combine bacon, onion, spaghetti sauce, garlic, and cayenne pepper in skillet.
  6. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  7. Serve over spaghetti.
