Spaghetti in Red Sauce with Mixed Olives

- 453.59 g dried spaghetti
- 59.14 ml olive oil (can use less if you like the dish a little "lighter")
- 295.73 ml mixed olives, pitted and halved
- 7.39 ml red pepper flakes, more to taste
- 709.77 ml of your favorite tomato sauce (home made or jar)
- 118.29 ml grated parmesan cheese
- 118.29 ml basil leaves, shredded
directions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Cook until al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes.
- In a large saute pan, heat oil.
- Next, add olives and red pepper flakes.
- Saute for 3 minutes over medium high heat.
- Reduce heat to low, add tomato sauce, and simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Drain pasta in a colander, reserving about 1/4 cup pasta water.
- Add pasta to the sauce and toss to coat completely.
- Add some pasta water if you need to thin out the sauce a bit.
- Slide pasta into a serving bowl and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and basil.
