Soy Chicken

"Found this recipe in "Six Ingredients or Less: Chicken Cookbook" It's so easy and uses ingredients that most of us always have on hand. The sauce tastes great over rice. The recipe calls for a whole chicken, but you could use bone in breasts or thighs or any combination that you would like and adjust cooking time accordingly. This is also good with pork chops."

  1. This was excellent. and easy to make thanks

  2. Well we all supremely enjoyed this dish (I did cut the soy by halve - habit but in this recipe I may just up this by an extra tablespoon and for us perfect I think). I used drumsticks and mine got colour (baked a total 45 minutes but hadn't quite got to the sticky stage) but honestly we were glad of the sauce for the rice, delicious. I did use the microwave to combine and melt the sugar, soy sauce and butter together - 45 seconds total in 900 watt oven - stirred after first 30 seconds. Thank you for one I will try again with a quartered chicken - which I think with the larger joint will get me to the sticky stage, made Edition 7 - Make My Recipe.

  3. Really good chicken. I'm not sure if it was my batch, or what, but mine did not carmalize like the photo, just left a soupy base at the bottom of the pan. The chicken was not dark but white. Having said that, I put the marinade in a small bowl on service for dipping and it was good, just not the dark caramel product I expected.

  4. WOW! 4 ingredients, 3 of those ingredients are regular items in my pantry or fridge. We were painting today and I was worked nightshift (Only had a few hours sleep in the morning), so I didn't have much time and patience today with a complicated meal. This was perfect, took less then 10 minutes to prepare and tasty yummy. What more could I ask for? I cut up a whole organic chicken, they sold out on Maryland Chicken (thigh and drumstick cut). I would be comfortable using this recipe on any on the bone chicken. Kept to the recipe except I used salt reduce soy sauce just to remove any salty flavours just as the pervious review suggested. I served it with basmati rice and small salad. Thank you LARavenscroft

  5. We enjoyed this meal a lot, found it sweet but overly salty so next time (and there will be a next time) I will drop the soy back by half. I used wing bits and cooked it in the elec frypan to save heating up the kitchen with the oven, then removed the chicken and reduced the sauce til it was sticky and sweet. Served over basmati rice. We all agreed this would be beautiful using chopped fillets to save sticky fingers. Thanks!
