Unfortunately, McDonald's has phased out its Southwest Salad. However, I don't have to live without it thanks to this recipe. This is supposed to be an exact replica of it for you to make at home. Feel free to take it to work in a plastic container and make your co-workers jealous. The points value for Weight Watchers is 7 points. I got this recipe from an email from the Hungry Girl web site. That's what the "HG" stands for! Enjoy! UPDATE 4/1/08: This limited edition, seasonal salad is back! Find the super salad (which is packed with corn, black beans, tortilla strips and more) at McD's NOW thru the summer.

Ingredients Nutrition


  1. Mix together marinade ingredients in a small bowl; add chicken and coat it in the marinade, set aside.
  2. In a pan spritzed with nonstick spray, cook tomatoes and corn over high heat until slightly charred.
  3. Place lettuce in a bowl and top with marinated chicken, tomatoes and corn, chopped pepper and black beans.
  4. Sprinkle with cheese and chips.
  5. In a small dish, combine all of the dressing ingredients with 1 teaspoons water.
  6. Serve dressing alongside salad for easy dipping.
  7. Enjoy!

I loved this salad... It was soo good.. Have course it wasn't the same as the McDonalds version but still tasty non the less..

I left out the chicken and this was still a great salad. I ended up using fresh corn off the cob, and bell peppers. I used sun chips and a few more than called for. Thanks! Made for Please Review My Recipe game.

EXCELLENT! I brought this over to a neighbor's house for dinner tonight and they all loved it and asked for the recipe. The dressing is amazing! I omitted the chicken and just made the salad and dressing. I also used lowfat greek yogurt instead of the sour cream. Delicious!
