Made as recipe states and it was too weak and wayyyy too sweet. Next time I will let it steep longer to make it strong and halve the sugar.

My husband and I were raised on sweet tea. But for health reasons, we have gotten used to sweetening our tea with Equal. I made this as a surprise for him for his birthday dinner. He loved it and so did I. It is very sweet but we both think that is how tea ought to be. Thanks for a guilty pleasure that will be saved for special occasions.

This was awesome. Some of the best iced tea I've ever had. For some reason, my tea usually doesn't turn out too well. This is a fool-proof way to make an outstanding pitcher of tea. I wonder what the baking soda does?

My mother in law made this all the time when I came over (and still does), and once I got married she passed it on to me so I could make it anytime I wanted. We make this recipe to a tee, except I don't use the baking soda. Like the preview says, it is true southern sweet tea. We both use the full 2 cups sugar and its just perfect for us :) My mother however, prefers it with 1 1/2 cups sugar.

My husband and I are both from Texas but now live in NW Arkansas. I have been missing sweet tea so much! I am so glad I found this! I didn't add 2 cups of sugar, rather 1 cup and it was sweet enough for us.

Very delicious iced tea. This recipe does not make 2 quarts though, but almost. It's like 2 cups away from being a full 2 quarts, so next time I make this tea I will have to fix that. I cannot imagine putting 2 cups of sugar in this tea and I LOVE sugar. Half a cup sweetens it perfectly for me. I also didn't like the baking soda because it took the bitterness away and made the tea too smooth. I like the bitterness in sweet tea, personally. Other than that, great recipe!

Perfect! This is exactly the taste I grew up on in the South. Can't find it at any restaurants here in California (except McDonald's).

My 13yo son & 9yo daughter were all over me about wanting me to take them to McDonald's to get some sweet tea because they were both craving it. Knowing Zaar has never let me down, I told them I could make some just as good, if not better. They scoffed. Well, they're not scoffing any more! I had to start a second batch immediately because they were drinking it so fast! Thanks so much. :)

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet! It is gorgeous and perfect just the way it is! I love the insane sweetness of it. Tonight I'm taking it to a cocktail party as a mixer for vodka so we shall see how that works. As a drink on its own it is perfect and oh so simple! Thanks for posting

Very good. Like several other people, I only used 1/3 cup sugar and it was plenty sweet. Thanks for sharing.
