This recipe has been in my family for at least 75 years.I remember my great-grandmother making this salad during the summer and serving it with BBQ chicken. It is so simple to make and has always been a comfort food for me.

Ingredients Nutrition

  1. Toss all ingredients together and enjoy!
  2. If you're making this ahead of time, add the tomatoes at the last minute to avoid a watery salad.

I loved the bacon and red onion in this recipe. It was very easy to make. I used frozen peas (thawed) and I also put the tomatoes in a colander after I cut them up to help drain off extra liquid.

This was really good, reminded me of a 7 layer salad, but this is easier. I make ahead, but left out the tomatoes, just chopped some up and added on our own, Did not add to salad bowl. My DH and I both agreed, the tomatoes were not needed, was so good without and he is a real tomato nut. Will be making this again and again. Thank you for sharing

YUM!!! I made a few adjustments because it just me eating salads in my house! I added a little cheese and brocolli because I needed to use them. I also left out the red onion because I don't like them raw. Thanks so much for a keeper!
