Southern Country Fried Steaks and Gravy

Comfort food at its best. This is a great recipe for beginners and it tastes good too. I pulled it off another website a few years back and made some minor adjustments.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 4 cube steaks
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 12 teaspoons pepper
  • 1 14 teaspoons salt
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup flour
  • 14 cup lard
  • 1 cup milk
  • 12 teaspoon pepper
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons flour

Directions

  1. season meat with garlic, pepper, and salt.
  2. Dip into flour, then eggs, then flour again.
  3. Heat lard in large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry steaks on each side for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Gravy recipe.
  5. Pour off all but 2 tablespoons of lard. Mix in flour (2tbsp.) with the oil. cook over med. heat and gradually whisk in milk. Cook and stir until thick and bubbly.
  6. Add salt and pepper.
  7. Serve over steaks.
