This was my grandmother's recipe. I looked forward to having this every year at Christmas time.
- Pour milk into a double boiler.
- Heat to boiling.
- Beat eggs, add sugar, and mix well.
- Add to milk and cook until thick enough for your tastes, stirring constantly.
- Add vanilla, stir well, and serve.
Exactly what I was looking for! I'm a Northerner (Yankee..LOL) that's fallen in love with Boiled Custard...and all the recipe's I have tried in the past never got thick enough till yours. The past recipe's were 2 quarts of Milk to 5 eggs, I think the trick with yours is more eggs! I doubled your recipe and made last night with Splenda (diabetics in family) and it was superb! Yummy Thanks so much!
Takes a while but much, much, better than the recipes that have corn starch in them.
