  1. Cover salt cod with cold water and soak over night.
  2. Drain and cover with fresh water.
  3. Bring to simmer.
  4. Drain, taste and repeat if cod is too salty.
  5. Drain well and keep warm.
  6. In skilet fry salt pork until crisp (these are called scrunchions) and set aside.
  7. Cook vegetables until tender.
  8. Prepare whit sauce by melting butter ,adding flour and salt and stir together until smooth.
  9. Gradually stir in milk.
  10. Cook stirring constantly until thick.
  11. Arrange salt cod on heated platter.
  12. Arrange vegetables around fish.
  13. Pour white sauce over fish.
  14. Garnish with egg slices and scrunchions.
