This is a great recipe -- It tastes like sourdough but doesn't require a starter.
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1⁄3 cup water
- 1 cup beer
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons salt
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 3 cups flour
- 1 package dry yeast
- Place ingredients in bread machine pan in the order suggested by the manufacturer.
- Select White Bread setting, and then press Start.
Oh this was a keeper! Thanks for such a simple recipie! I used wheat beer and it gave the bread a delicious flavor. I agree that the crust was terrific!
I have tried all kinds of bread recipes for my ABM and this one is everyone's favourite bread! I wouldn't call it sourdough flavoured, just beer bread, but a perfect one I can even cook right in the bread maker, which I never normally do. It comes out perfect! I warm the beer in the microwave, by the way. Thanks for the fantastic recipe! It is a keeper for sure!
We are another group who didn't pick up a big sourdough flavor with this one. Note the five star rating though, this was a great, tasty, flexible, light and airy loaf of bread- and we will be making it again. Thanks KimmieOh!
