    Glaze

    Directions:

    1. 1
      Preheat the oven to 350F degrees.
    2. 2
      Butter and flour a 9" round cake pan.
    3. 3
      Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    4. 4
      Beat in the eggs, one at a time.
    5. 5
      Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.
    6. 6
      Add to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.
    7. 7
      Stir in the lemon zest.
    8. 8
      Pour the batter into the pan.
    9. 9
      Bake for 1 hour, or until a cake tester comes out clean.

      Remove from oven and allow to sit in the pan for a few minutes.

      Turn the cake out onto a rack.
    12. 12
      Stir the glaze ingredients together until the sugar dissolves and brush them onto the cake.

      Allow to cool.
