Love the versatility of this recipe! I added butter nut extract and some roasted finely chopped pecans to make it a butter pecan cake, and it turned out great! Just keep I. Mind that most cake mixes are 16.25 oz or smaller now, so make sure you are adjusting accordingly. I just have a spare box that I take the extra couple ounces out of to accommodate.
This is a great way to Dr. up an ordinary yellow cake mix.I have to say I can still taste that cake mix flavor, but the texture was great! Thanks for sharing the recipe. 12-8-12-Wanted to update that the cake is even better the next day.
Delicious! I made this for hubby's birthday and he said he wants THIS cake every year! I topped it with Lite Cool Whip Frosting and kept it in the fridge.
I needed a cake in a hurry and I made this in no time! I made it for my neighbor who was to have her family in from another state. I almost always do from scratch cakes, but I had a box cake mix to use up. I didn't eat any of it, probably because they ate every crumb! My neighbor called me this morning and said it was delicious! I prefer to make cakes from scratch, but decided to try this. It was very yummy and easy to make. Served at a get together (with homemade choc frosting) it was deemed wonderful. Making this again for Valentines Day to take to work for co-workers.
This was pretty good. Much better than a plain cake mix. Very easy. Doubled it for a giant two layer 9x13 cake for my son's birthday and used Kittencal's Buttercream #80118 for the filling. Topped with marshmallow fondant. Will make again for the fans of yellow cake in my home! Thanks.
This was very fast and easy to make..so much better than just a box mix..the cake came out just a bit more dense and more rich than what it would have if just following the box recipe. It was easier to frost and made a great bday cake. Thank u for the recipe!

This cake was delicious! I used Caramel Cake Frosting/Icing on it (#44051) on it the first time and a chocolate icing the second time. I love the texture of it. Thanks for a great recipe.
