Sour Cream Top Sirloin

"I made this for my mothers birthday some years ago and she loved it! You may have to add extra seasoning though, I added salt and pepper to the sauce. Serve on a bed of rice or buttered noodles with green beans."

  • Cut meat into serving-size pieces.
  • Dredge in flour, seasoned with paprika, salt and pepper.
  • Heat oil in a heavy skillet. Sear steak on one side. Turn meat.
  • Add onion, garlic, water, soy sauce, brown sugar and mustard.
  • Cover. Simmer for 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Add mushrooms. Continue to simmer for 5 minutes or until meat is tender.
  • Add sour cream. Simmer until thoroughly heated.

  1. This was really easy to make, but the sweetness was to much. I thought it would have a more beefy flavor. I'd like to make it again, but instead of the brown sugar and soy maybe add some red wine.
     
  2. This was easy to make and more than likely fine tasting for most people, however, my DH and I found it too sweet for our tastes - the sweetness seemed to overpower all the other flavors. I will try this again but next time only add 1/2 the brown sugar or perhaps even a bit less. Thanks for posting Zusie.
     
  3. Easy to make and even easier to eat. I went a little crazy on the Dijon mustard so I could have that extra flavor. I served it over plain macaroni noodles.Yum yum. I will make this again. Thanks for sharing.
     
  4. Delish! I usually end up adding lots of stuff to a recipe, but all this needed was extra salt to bring out this fantastic flavor. Well, I might've gone a little heavier on the dijon, I couldn't help myself!
     
  5. Fantastic recipe! I used 2 large garlic cloves, chicken broth instead of water, and I didn't have any mushrooms on hand. Next time I will make mashed potatoes to go with it. Thank you so much for this yummy recipe!
