Sour Cream and Ground Beef Layered Casserole

"This is a great casserole that I have been making for years, it's one of my family's favorite dishes. Feel free to adjust all ingredient amounts to suit taste. I usually season the ground beef/onion mixture with seasoned salt and add in some cayenne pepper for heat but that is optional."

  1. This was AMAZING. The only thing I did different was I added a 15oz can of Italian style diced tomatoes. Definitely adding to our casserole rotation!

  2. I was in a hurry to get any 'fast' recipe, using the contents of my pantry. After we ate the resulted casserole I should have known it was Kittencal! All of your stuff is so, so good! Just because I didn't read the recipe closely on the assembly... I combined all of the ingredients/stirred it up and poured it into the baking dish, baked 30min. It was DELICIOUS!

  3. I usually love all of kittens recipes. Just not this one. Everyone ate it but doesn't want it made again. It wasn't bad just wasn't very appealing. Sorry first time I have ever gave a 3 star.

  4. This worked out pretty well. I used Fat free sour cream and cream cheese and reduced fat Colby cheese on top. I also used macaroni noodle and built it upside down so the noodles were on bottom, I'm not a fan of crunchy noodles. Finally, I made the whole casserole the night before so I could just pop it in the oven when I got home from work. I usually have most of this stuff on hand so I'm sure I'll make it again.

  5. This was good. Agree with previous posters - noodles or rice (I used rice instead of noodles) need to go on the bottom, they get too crispy on top. I halfed the cream cheese/sour cream and it was not too overwhelming, like other posters noted.

  1. This was good, but we liked your ground beef enchilada casserole much better. I was out of gluten free noodles, so I made this with rice instead. If I make this again I will definately use noodles instead of rice to give the casserole more substance. I will also substitute the cheddar cheese for a shredded mexican or taco cheese variety to give the recipe more added flavor, and divide the cheese to put one cup over the sour cream mixture and reserve the other cup to put on the top of the casserole. Two cups just ended up being a lot of cheddar on one layer. This recipe is very simple to make and very easy to alter to fit your taste.

  2. This was ok. Everybody ate it, but noone ate the leftovers. i used rice instead of noodles-we arent usually noodle eaters. maybe that would have made a difference. I am stll a huge fan of Kittencal!

  4. I thought this would be great and I was right! Every recipe I have tried from you is perfect! I did make a few subs b/c I am low in the pantry..I used rice instead of egg noodles, a little bit of tomato paste, a few chopped mushrooms to the beef, and threw in some feta that I had that needed used up into the sour cream/cream cheese mixture. It was sooooo good! I'll make this again I am quite sure! Very VERY good with the rice, I am not sure I want to make it with noodles now :) Thanks for another amazing recipe :)
