  • 1 cup butter (no substitutions)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 18 teaspoon cardamom
  • 2 cups flour, sifted
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 4 almonds, mashed
  • 12 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 tablespoons cream

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Cream butter until light.
  • Add sugar gradually and cream again.
  • Add egg and beat well.
  • Stir in flour, cardamom and salt.
  • Add mashed almonds, flavoring and cream.
  • Blend thoroughly.
  • Chill.
  • Press into Sonn Bakkels forms (a fluted round pan about an inch deep and 3 inches in diameter) to 1/4 inch thickness.
  • Bake for 20 minutes.
