I had a hard time with these bars...stayed very wet and I had to rebake. I used a 9x9 pan. They do have wonderful flavor, much like a molasses cookie or ginger snap. I'll try them again in a larger pan.

Ingredients Nutrition


  1. In a mixing bowl, combine butter, 1 cup of sugar and molasses.
  2. Beat in egg until smooth.
  3. Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and salt; stir into the molasses mixture. Spread into a greased 15 x 10-in. baking pan.
  4. Sprinkle with remaining sugar.
  5. Bake at 375° for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned.
  6. Do not overbake. Cool on a wire rack before cutting.
