My mom has made these since I was little. She had lost the recipe and I desperately searched until we found it. These are really yummy, we make them for Christmas.

  1. Beat margarine, corn syrup and vanilla in large bowl until well blended.
  2. Add flour and cinnamon and nuts.
  3. Cover and chill until easy to handle, about 3 hours.
  4. Heat oven to 350°.
  5. Shape dough into 1-inch balls.
  6. Bake until light brown for 15-18 minutes.
  7. Cool on wire racks.
  8. Roll in powdered sugar.

We have also been using this recipe for over 50 years, but we always roll the cookie around a marachino cherry and call them "Butterballs". It's not Christmas without them!

I made this recipe as part of our Adopted Recipe Swap. These were wonderful little cookies that my daughters and I enjoyed making together. The only change I made was to use pecans as I didn't have any walnuts.
