No cream of Tartar used here. You can bake these cookies to fill the cookie jar if you have only basic ingredients on hand. The balls of dough are rolled in cinnamon sugar before baking and flattened with the tines of a fork before being baked crisp. Good served with milk or fruit juice as an after-school snack. I found this recipe on My Great Recipes cards. I have not tried this recipe, but I'm posting it for a request on the boards.

  1. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and beat until fluffy. Stir together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg and salt. Blend into creamed mixture to make a stiff cookie dough.
  2. Shape into balls the size of walnuts. Mix the 2 tablespoons sugar with 2 tablespoons cinnamon in a small bowl. Roll cookie balls in the cinnamon sugar. Place on greased baking sheets. Flatten with fork.
  3. Bake at 400 for 10-12 minutes or until very lightly browned.
  4. Tips: For easy shaping of cookie dough, you can use a tiny ice cream scoop, #70 or smaller.
