Holiday Snickerdoodles

"Back in the 80's my girlfriend had just had her first baby and invited me over and made these cookies, this is the first time I had ever tasted snickerdoodles. The next day, remembering how good they were, I called her for the recipe. Have been making them ever since. I like to double this recipe, because at my house these only last a few hours."

  1. Yummy yummy! I didn't have the Crisco so I used all margarine...and guess what? It worked! Yummy comfort food. Makes the house smell delicious.

  4. Awesome! Perfection at 8 minutes in the oven. I got more like 45 cookies, however, rather than 60.

Tweaks

  1. These were perfect! I used Ener-G egg replacer instead of eggs, and soy milk instead of milk, as well as just replacing the 1/2 cup Crisco and 1/2 cup butter with 1 cup margarine. I left out the salt, since the margarine was salted. I only got about 35 cookies, and baked them for about 8-10 minutes.

  2. What a nice, simple old-fashioned cookie! I have never had a Snickerdoodle before! I used butter in place of the Crisco and was in a hurry so spread the dough out into a 15x10" bar pan and cut them into squares after baking. I guess I made Snickerdoodle Bars. :) Thanks for posting!
