This is so good! We loved this variation on French toast. I used some leftover slices from a loaf of gluten-free bread that I had made, and got 8 slices using the same amount of cinnamon/sugar and custard mix. Thanks for sharing!

Simple and delicious! The whole family (and a couple of sleepover friends) really enjoyed it served with maple syrup for breakfast. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

This was delicious! I doubled the recipe and cut up a 24 inch loaf of stale french batard (it made about 16-18 slices). I soaked 6 pieces at a time, letting them set in the batter for a minute or two; the bread was thick and hard and softened up nicely in the batter. My 10 y/o ate these with butter, syrup, a few sprinkles of powdered sugar and sausage links on the side. I thought they were just as tasty and sweet with only some butter. I am freezing my leftover pieces; it will be easy to pull out of the freezer, defrost and heat up quickly on a busy morning. Thanks for posting!

Since we only had whole grain bread I thought this would not taste good but my husband insisted on it being fine and he was RIGHT! I loved it and so did he. We got 6 slices out of this. Yum! Thanks!

My grandson thoroughly enjoyed this for breakfast served with a side lf sausage. He added butter and syrup, which I didn't feel was needed but stifled myself. Being diabetic, I was unable to give it a try but my grandson gave it two thumbs up and that's a 5 in my book. This has become a new favorite and will be made again. I have reviewed this recipe for ZWT 6 - Germany.

This was really good! Made as is and just needed a little butter on it before serving; no need for syrup...though I tried it with syrup as well and it was great. Will be making this again. Made for ZWT6 Germany.

My kids loved it, so I'm happy :) I'm pretty sure this will be the way I make French toast from now on. I love that it doesn't need any more sugar to be tasty. Thank you for posting! Made for Swizzle Chicks and ZWT 6, Germany.

LOVED the crunchy coating that the cinnamon sugar created! You definitely have to keep a close eye on this while it's cooking, because it does start to burn easily because of the sugar on the outside. I used a nonstick frying pan with a bit of cooking spray, and I had no problem with sticking. I served this with some fresh blueberries, blackberries and strawberries scattered on top. Such an indulgent breakfast, thanks for posting :) ! Made for The Queens of Quisine for ZWT6 Germany

This is my kids' favorite French Toast recipe. I like the fact that they usually don't want any sweet, sugary syrup on top when I serve this for breakfast....just a little bit of sliced strawberries or banana on the side. It's a really great breakfast dish. Thanks, iewe! Made for ZWT #6.

These were okay. They stuck to my griddle something awful, though.

This was a nice change for french toast with directions that were easy to follow. I did not poke the bread with a fork and I omitted the salt. We served these with a small amount of butter on top. The whole family enjoyed the recipe and we'll be adding this in to our "breakfast for dinner" rotation for future use. Thank you for posting the idea!

A little different than normal french toast. Topped it off with some fresh peach syrup (Fresh Peach Syrup (Topping)).
