Phenomenal idea!!! I made these from scratch and use some green food coloring. I will admit it was a bit time cosuming shaping them out into the snake forms but man was it worth it. People were speachless at the dinner table! They couldn't believe they were actually edible. Thanks for the ghastly idea!

These are so cute. If you don't like olives or pimentos, try cutting up dark raisens or a peppercorn for the eyes. Use string red licorice for the mouth. I would bake them first, cool, then poke a small hole with a toothpick & insert a small piece of red licorice. You could also make a sweet treat by brushing with butter & sprinkling with cinnamon sugar.

This is a cute idea!! I haven't tried this yet but was thinking about using pretzel dough instead for my 4yr old daughters daycare for a Halloween party or make it sweet, I don't know if the little kids would eat the black olives (she loves them) but I don't even like the pimento so I was wondering how I could change it a little to be "toddler friendly" any suggestions? Thanks

These were fun for our Halloween dinner. I spread them with a little soft butter and sprinkled them with parm cheese. I pressed the cheese down before I wrapped them around the skewers. I used green olives for the eyes. My pimientos fell out of most of them. I was in a hurry when I made them and I think I should have dried them a little on paper towel. I will be making these again.

These were great! Somewhat time consuming, but well worth it. My son's third grade class loved them! So did all the teachers!

When I told my son he was getting Snakes on a Stick for dinner, he said "It's April Fools, right?", but he looked worried. He said that our local grocery didn't sell snakes (did they?). He said that we're vegetarian, and snakes were not vegetarian, and he looked more worried. I don't usually buy tinned biscuits or breadsticks, but this time it was worth it. I brushed on the butter and some garlic powder. I think I had Pillsbury lowfat breadsticks, and the package said 10-13 minutes, they took 12 in my oven. You do have to be careful to push in the olives well, or some will fall out when the breadsticks puff up. DS and DH had two each. We all had a good laugh! April Fools! Thanks!

So easy and fun. I absolutely hate snakes, but these were adorable - a big hit too. I cut each bread stick in half lengthwise with a pizza cutter to get 24 thinner breadsticks. Served with Maggot Dipping Sauce (marinara with orzo). Thank you!

These were so adorable. People loved them. I basted them with butter/italian seasonings/garlic powder. I left them on the sticks and stuck the sticks into a pumpkin for display. Served them with a hot pizza dip. Thanks a lot!

ABSOLUTE AWESOME. Not that they are fun to make, they will be the hit on every party. I've used Bread Sticks as breadstick dough. I followed the recipe as described. After 20 minutes the snakes were ready. I used finely chopped fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, oregano), wonderful taste. Thanks for sharing this great recipe and for that cute idea.
