Something different to add to a platter with a variety of tea sandwiches, or just a nice afternoon snack. This is really quick if you use chive cream cheese in the tub and prepared wasabi. From Bon Appétit.

Ingredients Nutrition

  1. Mix wasabi powder and 2 teaspoons water in medium bowl to form paste.
  2. Add cream cheese; using electric mixer, beat until well combined.
  3. Place all bread slices on work surface. Trim crusts.
  4. Spread each with wasabi cream cheese, dividing equally.
  5. Top 6 bread slices with smoked salmon, dividing equally.
  6. Sprinkle lemon juice and black pepper, then chives over salmon.
  7. Top with remaining bread slices, cheese side down.
  8. Note: Can be made two hours ahead. Wrap sandwiches individually in paper towels and refrigerate.
  9. Cut each sandwich into 4 triangles.
  10. Transfer to platter cut side up.

This gets a big 5+ star. DH wanted to rate it a 10 and I wanted a 4. Only because I thought it needed just a bit more POW! I'm thinking of adding in some capers. But, with that said DH loved the "mild yet burst of flavor" that these little sandwiches gave his taste buds. I do have to admit that this would be an excellent addition to a tea sandwich tray. I did reduce this down to 8 tea sandwiches because there are only two of us here. I made this the quick and easy way using the prepared wasabi paste and mixed it by hand using whipped cream cheese. What a delicious little appetizer. Thanks for posting. :)
