I used bone in chicken breasts, skinned and doubled the sauce. Otherwise stuck to the recipe except deleting the oregano. I used to make the original recipe from the the Silver Palate cookbook. This tastes the same and is much easier. We love it, thanks for posting.
GREAT recipe. don't be scared by the mix of ingredients, it is fabulous!! next time i may double the ingredients, except for the chicken, just to have the extra broth, absolutely, delicious.

What an amazing combination of flavors in this dish! We loved the sweetness from the prunes, and the tangy-ness from the red wine vinegar and capers. I doubled the sauce ingredients, and used chicken thighs and breasts. Definitely a keeper! Made for ZWT8.
What a wonderful chicken recipe. I am always on the lookout for crockpot recipes, as I make 1 - 2 of them weekly. Very wholesome flavor, it could use even more sauce as it is the best part of the recipe.
