Sloppy Ottos (German Version of Sloppy Joes)

"Because of my German heritage, I try to use the month of October to cook more German-inspired foods. When my sons were younger, they loved sauerkraut and any dish that contained it. This was a favorite of theirs and I liked that it was a one skillet, easy and tasty sandwich. I served it with German potato salad. Yum!!"

  1. I made this for dinner tonight for myself, my son & father. All enjoyed but I wish it would have had a tad more seasoning. VERY easy to make and I enjoyed the sour cream w/ the sauerkraut. Thanks for sharing!

  2. This was AWESOME. So easy and simple. I didn't drain the sauerkraut, so I simmered it a little while to let it reduce. I ate it out of a bowl (I don't do bread) and my husband, oddly enough, ended up dipping Doritos in it. (I don't ask how he comes up with these things). But he loved it, too. Next time I'm making a bigger batch!

  3. Great tasting simple recipe! Will be making on a regular basis.

  4. Wow! I wasn't sure how these were going to turn out, but gave them a shot. Yum! They are great! Followed the recipe exactly, using 1 cup of well drained sauerkraut. Wonderful! Will definitely be making these again!

  5. This was really good! I served this along side mashed potatoes and it was hot, inexpensive and filling. My whole family enjoyed this and my children are not big saurkraut fans. Will be making this again.
